Can you imagine being immersed INSIDE a Van Gogh painting like “A Starry Night”? You can get as close as possible to it at an exhibit at THE LUME at Newfields at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
The LUME features a 40-minute long presentation of Van Gogh’s paintings at all stages of his life, including the iconic “Starry Night” and “The Bedroom.”
They use more than 150 projectors to project his paintings all around you, including the walls and floor — everything except the ceiling (painted black). They add music and motion to the paintings, which is phenomenal.
TIP: There is a timed entry system, but the Van Gogh portion of the exhibit doesn’t start for about 20-30 minutes after your entry time. I recommend grabbing a drink at THE LUME Cafe first and then wandering around the 30,000 square feet of space, complete with a life-size real version of “The Bedroom” where you can sneak a selfie!
